This is Ms. Sims' second year as  Head Director of Theatre at MHS. Previously, she resided as the Director of Theatre at Gainesville HS for ten years. She received her BA in Theatre from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a focus in acting/directing and is a proud alum of Trinity Valley Community College. Additionally, Ms. Sims has worked as a professional costume designer, and loves sewing! During her time as a high school director, Ms. Sims has worked to build highly successful programs, producing full school musicals and competing in the UIL One Act Play Contest to the Area level eight times, and to Region in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2024.  In UIL Theatrical Design, Ms. Sims has had ten students earn the distinction of qualifying for the state contest and she has also had a student become the State Champion in Costume Design in 2019. In 2015, Ms. Sims was awarded the International Thespian Society’s Inspirational Teacher of the Year. She currently lives in Denton with her kitty Axel!

Whitney Bollinger

Associate Director

This is Mrs. Bollinger's 1st year at Marcus, but her 4th year teaching in Lewisville ISD. She grew up dancing and started musical theatre in college. After graduating with a BA in Dance, Mrs. Bollinger began performing at professional theatres around the DFW Metroplex. Some include Uptown Players, WaterTower Theater, Lyric Stage Dallas, and TheatreThree. After choreographing and teaching at Coppell High School, she made the jump to full time theatre teacher in 2019 at Briarhill Middle School.

Mrs. Bollinger was born and raised in Denton, TX, and lives there with her spouse, Sara, and pets, Auggie & Buddy.

Ben Brooks

Technical Director

Mr. Brooks has been working in the world of theatre since his own time in high school. He oversees all of the Tech Theatre classes, including the JV and Varsity Tech classes.

In addition to teaching Tech Theatre, Mr. Brooks sponsors the UIL Theatrical Design contest. 

Mr. Brooks has his BA in Theatre Education from the University of North Texas, where he fell in love with tech and carpentry.

While he doesn't have any biological children of his own, Mr. Brooks does have an overweight tuxedo cat named Noodle.
